MITHRAS : noticias de nuevo álbum

Mi super banda favorita de Atmospheric Progressive Brutal Death Metal, MITHRAS, originarios de Londres, Reino Unido, parecen dar señas de vida nuevamente. Y es que después de la triste partida de Rayner Coss (oratory - bass, a la izquierda y al fondo, en la foto de abajo), ocurrida en diciembre de 2008, a la banda sólo le quedaba adaptarse.



Tras un periodo de dos meses en que se conseguia, mi buen amigo Leon Macey, guitarrista y compositor máximo (en todo sentido), a nuevos integrantes, logró conseguir a músicos de gran valía como Sam Bean (a la izquierda en la foto de abajo), para el puesto que Rayner dejó vacío (aunque me mantengo un poco escéptico), y a Ben White (al centro, con gafas obscuras, en la foto de abajo), quien ya había estado en MITHRAS, durante su primer álbum (el "Forever Advancing ... Legions") como guitarrista, aunque ahora, por el momento, como baterista en vivo. (Leon Macey es el de la derecha, con gafas, en la foto de abajo)



Una vez formada la alineación oficial, se lanzaron a dar múltiples conciertos en pequeñas giras y festivales por su país.

Pero en una nueva entrevista, El buen Leon nos señala que ya está por terminar un nuevo álbum, aunque no es de rolas inéditas, sino que es la conmemoración de 10 años de vida de la banda, y que consiste en un recopilatorio de sus primeros demos, rolas regrabadas, y un DVD con conciertos en vivo y demás curiosidades, en una edición de lujo de su álbum que tiene el título tentativo de "The Sands of Time".

Todo esto lo declaró en una entrevista para la METAL REVIEW, aquí sus palabras:



“I've got songs in the embryonic stages, I can't really say much other than it's some fucked up shit,” he says. “It'll be fast/slow/evil/serene/beautiful/chaotic/mechanical. I'll be pushing the boat out a bit and I'm sure Sam will want to make a statement with his first Mithras record.

“Beyond concentrating on the live shows, I've got to find some time to finish up a release called The Sands of Time. It's been in development hell for some time as I've been so busy with the line-up changes, live shows and recording duties for The Senseless but it's my main priority from now on.

“Sands of Time will celebrate 10 years of Mithras and take the form of a CD /DVD package. It's pretty extensive so bear with me!

“The CD features all our demos: Gods Among Men, Dreaming In Splendour, and Bequeath Thy Visions; unreleased recordings including a Tomb of Kings demo and some really rare old songs which we rerecorded right before going into the studio to record Worlds, which I'm remixing to a pro standard. All the material has been remastered so it sounds as good as possible without ruining the original character. The CD is 78 minutes or so.

“The DVD will feature 5-6 songs from Rayner's farewell show in London 2008, shot with two cameras and with professionally mixed audio. The other material spans various live shows, some studio footage and some other bits and bobs.

“I'm not sure whether Sands of Time will be distributed through the shops, I may just keep it available through the Mithras site only, for simplicity and convenience, but it'll be available at “mithras.bigcartel.com” at the very least.


Sin duda, será un buen disco el cual hay que esperar, aunque no sea nada nuevo o inédito bajo el sol, en el repertorio de sus rolas.
